This was the reason I went to the auction. Not to buy, but to see 1 of only 2 of these in existence. It was a prototype built for LeMans racing that never made it into production. This one was in a nasty wreck on the track back in 1973 and was fully restored in 2000. I've no idea what it sold for...
it's really funny how you ignored this cool red car in the background. Any details on this one?

this car is awesome looking, looks like a cross between a d-type and an e-type. oh and jerrrys right, it is pretty funny how you posted a picture of the red car the next day

What you are looking at is a replica. A few dozen exist and 1 of them is being built in my garage. Jaguar owns the one and only true XJ13 and they turned down 7 million pounds for it.

Todd is correct. The car is a replica and I built it. I sold it in March of 2006 and it has changed owners several times since then. It sold at the Red Baron Auction on November 11, 2006 for $253,000. I have no idea who currently ownes it.

du wayne, du wop, du rag, here's a clue; the steering wheel is on the wrong side
6 Sep 2007 2:46pm
du wha ditty, On reflection the steering wheel is only the most obvious snafu. Rubber has the wrong aspect ratio, incorrect wheels and knock offs, incorrect attachment of head-lamp covers, wrong size window in bulkhead to engine compartment, rear view side mirrors (?) , and most importantly there doesn't seem to be any rivet lines ,which may be the camera angle, but given the gross inattention to detail which is manifest , I'd bet this is a fiberglass shell. This shouldn't be that hard to get correct in-as-much-as the xj13 is one of the best documented cars in the world and the J.D.H.T. in Coventry is very helpful. As to your comment; Norman Dewis wrote off the car in '71 at MIRA as it was being filmed for a promotional roll out of the S-III xke. It was rebuilt by Abbey Panels in '73 and again in house 30 years later by the J.D.H.Trust in suspense of its appearance at Pebble Beach. Finally, an aside to Mr. T. Way; Tempero built seven perfect replicas with Ford assistance and approval. One of which had been in the Backhawk museum (an affiliate of the Smithsonian) collection. Best regards - but stick to bridges and flowers, Anthony p.s. If you would kindly post any additional photos you may have of this car I would enjoy pointing out to the builder what I am sure will be numerous other flaws. Again, Best, A.

Anthony, where can I get more info on the Tempero 7 replicas? You used the word "perfect" replica. Where did the engine come from? I understand the Blackhawk sold their car recently to a private party. thanks

H - SO HOW ABOUT THAT PHOTOG SPENDING MORE TIME ON THE OWL THAN THE PAYING CLIENTS. MY COMMENTS BELOW PROVED CORRECT, I CHECKED WITH THE AUCTION HOUSE MENTIONED, THIS IS A PLASTIC REPLICA WITH MORE WRONG THAN I WAS ABLE TO SEE IN THE PHOTO (EG; WRONG ENGINE). VELOCITY JOURNAL HAS PICS OF TEMPERO XJ 13 001 ON DISPLAY IN THE BLACKHAWK. TELL THE KIDS I SAID HELLO.
